Formentera’s most frequented beaches are an absolute delight and are conveniently accessible to visitors. These beaches offer some of the finest amenities, including fantastic beach bars and restaurants, and comfortable sunbeds and parasols available for rent. Their facilities are some of the best you’ll find anywhere, making your time on the beach all the more enjoyable. Additionally, many of the beaches are ideal for snorkeling, and some even offer water sports activities for those looking to add some excitement to their beach day.

While Formentera’s beaches are undoubtedly stunning and among the finest in the world, they can get quite crowded during the high season. However, if you’re willing to take a short walk away from the busiest parts, you can find less populated areas of the beach that offer more solitude and peacefulness.

These more isolated stretches of sand can be a perfect escape for those looking to get away from the crowds and immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Formentera’s coastline. The serene atmosphere, combined with the picturesque scenery, can create an idyllic setting that will make you feel as though you have found your own personal paradise.

Formentera´s best beaches

As you set foot on Playa Illetes, you’ll immediately feel as though you’ve entered a Caribbean paradise rather than the Mediterranean. It’s no surprise that this beach was recently voted the best in Europe and ranked number six in the world’s top ten beaches.
Stretching along the west side of a long and slender peninsula, you’ll find pristine white sand, clear blue skies, and the most remarkable crystal-clear waters you’ve ever seen. These elements combine to create Formentera’s own unique piece of heaven on earth.
Playa Illetes is conveniently located just five kilometers from the port of La Savina, making it easily accessible by bike, bus, taxi, scooter, or car. It’s an idyllic beach destination that offers a little slice of paradise. (More + info)

Located on the eastern side of the narrow peninsula shared with Playa Illetes, you’ll discover the expansive sandy beach of Playa de Levante. Here, you’ll find peaceful bays and small rocky areas that offer seclusion and privacy. The beach’s serene ambiance makes it a popular spot for naturists, with the backdrop of sand dunes providing a perfect setting to enjoy the beach in the most natural way possible.

However, it’s important to note that Levante is often subjected to winds from east, which can create waves and water currents. Although this makes the beach less crowded during the summer, if you enjoy the thrill of the waves, then this is the perfect beach for you. (More + info)

Es Pujols is considered the top tourist spots on the island, largely thanks to the beautiful Es Pujols beach. Stretching for 690 meters along the coastline, this wide sandy beach connects to the Llevant beach to the west and is bordered to the east by the cliffs of Punta Prima. Despite being an urban beach, it is just as stunning as the more remote beaches on the island, with its clear turquoise waters and white sand.
It offers a variety of services to visitors, from a wide range of restaurants and cafes, to chemists, supermarkets, and souvenir shops.
The landscape is a picturesque blend of sand and rocky areas, and the traditional boathuts  add to its charm. Es Pujols beach is accessible for everyone, including disabled visitors, with ramp access to the water. (More + info)

The southern coast of Formentera is known as Migjorn, featuring a heavenly five-kilometre long stretch of beaches. Comprising of different coves separated by sandy and rocky areas, each of these parts comes with a unique name and multiple entrances.

This is a beach with a very laid-back and international atmosphere, and the crystal-clear turquoise waters are perfect for snorkeling. Clothing is optional throughout the entire length of the beach, so it’s common to see people taking off their clothes to enjoy the sun and sea in a more natural way. (More + info)

This beach offers stunning panoramic views of Ibiza, making it the perfect location to witness the beautiful sunsets that Formentera is famous for. Aside from the breathtaking views, Cala Saona is also home to a few excellent beachside restaurants, serving delicious food. The nearby Hotel Cala Saona also boasts wonderful views of the surrounding area. The beach is comprised of three small bays, which when combined, make up a stretch of about 600 meters. The beach is commonly referred to as “Ses Platgetes,” which is named for the small size of the bays. The three beaches are separated by rocky areas, providing a quiet and peaceful place to relax and enjoy the stunning views of La Mola cliffs.
In addition to the stunning scenery, there is a small grove of low juniper trees and sand dunes that can be traversed using the footbridges to protect them from damage. The combination of sand and rock formations gives the landscape a diverse look.
