Es Copinar is a small stretch of beach located in the southernmost part of Migjorn. It gets its name from the abundance of seashells typically found in the sand.
Depending on the ocean currents and winter storms, its appearance and the amount of sand can vary significantly from summer to summer.

Everything you need to know about Es Copinar
The beach of Es Copinar in Formentera is located at the southern end of Migjorn beach.
It is a well-known beach that has been home to the famous and picturesque Bartolo’s kiosk for many years, where visitors and locals can enjoy refreshing drinks and some freshly prepared dishes by the family that has been running it since its inception.
Due to the ocean currents in the area, especially during winter, the amount of sand on Es Copinar beach’s shoreline can vary from year to year, resulting in different appearances.
In addition to the kiosk, there is only one restaurant in the area, offering a menu of local and international cuisine. From its terrace, you can enjoy spectacular views of the beach and the sea.
Please note….
Es Copinar beach does not have a permanent lifeguard service, although there is a surveillance tower on the beach. The nearest lifeguards can be found approximately 1.5 km away in the Es Arenals area.
The beach is named Es Copinar because, during years when the sand is less abundant, there is a large presence of seashells on the shore, hence its name. In Catalan, “Es Copinar” means a place where many seashells are found.

How to get to Es Copinar
To get to Es Copinar beach from La Savina, you should take the main road (PM-820) until you pass the town of Es Caló de Sant Agustí. Continue for approximately 1 kilometer until you find a right turn with signs for Club Maryland. Proceed with caution as it is a narrow street where two cars cannot pass at the same time, and continue until you reach the seashore, which you can see as the road slopes steeply downhill. From there, you will find different parking areas that, although not abundant, are free and will allow you easy access to Es Copinar beach.
In this area, it is important to park your car properly if that has been your mode of transportation. Due to the narrowness of the street, traffic jams and congestion are not uncommon due to cars being parked in any way that obstructs the passage to the beach or the two hotels in the area.
If you prefer to arrive by public transportation, bus line 2 will take you from La Savina, passing through the other towns, to Es Copinar beach.
Services
Es Copinar beach has several concessions for renting sunbeds and umbrellas at a regulated price of €10 per item. This price is in effect across the entire island at the time of writing this text. Renting sunbeds and umbrellas is always a good option for those who prefer them instead of lying on their towel or sarong on the sand.
The beach also features a sailing school and paddleboard rental on the right side of Es Copinar beach. Despite being located on a property owned by one of the hotels in the area, it is open to non-guests. So, if you are passionate about water sports or want to give it a try, there is no better place than during your vacation in Formentera, specifically on the beautiful Es Copinar beach.
Although you will see a surveillance tower, this stretch of coast does not have constant lifeguard presence. The nearest point with lifeguards is approximately 1.5 km away at Es Arenals beach. Therefore, in case of any emergency, do not hesitate to call 112.

Eating at Es Copinar Beach
In this beach on the Migjorn coast of Formentera, we have two options for dining and drinking during our day of sun, sand, salt, and sea.
On one hand, we have the picturesque kiosk of Bartolo, a blue beach bar that rises on wooden columns and offers its customers delicious hamburgers, salads, omelets, and our favorite, Carne Pinchitos with a special homemade marinade. Since it’s usually very crowded, it’s best to approach the bar before you get hungry and let them know what you would like to eat from their menu options. They will take note and notify you when they have a table available and the food is almost ready. Impeccable service.
From this website, Formentera Lifestyle, we want to emphasize that we hope to have your presence on Es Copinar beach for many more years because, at the time of writing this text, it is yet to be decided what will happen in the immediate future with this and the rest of the beach kiosks in Formentera.
Es Copinar beach also features a restaurant bearing the same name, Restaurant Es Copinar, run by the same family that founded it back in 1972. It offers traditional island cuisine with a touch of sophistication, always using fresh and high-quality ingredients. Moreover, it boasts exceptional views of the beach and the turquoise blue of this part of Migjorn in Formentera.
