Formentera is an island located in the Balearic Islands, in the Mediterranean, known for its dreamy beaches and tranquility. But in addition to its tourist attractions, the island has several charming villages that are worth visiting.
In total, the island of Formentera has six villages: Sant Francesc, Sant Ferran, El Pilar de La Mola, Es Pujols, Es Caló de Sant Agustí and La Savina. Each of them has its own personality and unique characteristics that make them special.
Formentera Villages
· Sant Francesc ·
Sant Francesc is the capital of the island and has a historic center full of pedestrian streets and white houses. In it stands the church of Sant Francesc, built in the 18th century, and the Plaza de la Constitución, where several events are held throughout the year.
The town celebrates its patron saint festivities in honor of Sant Francesc Xavier on December 3rd, as well as on August 5th for Santa Maria (Festes de la Terra) and July 25th for Sant Jaume, patron saint of Formentera. (More + info)
· Sant Ferran ·
Sant Ferran is the village located in the center of the island and boasts a wide variety of bars and restaurants. Additionally, it is a must-visit for its nighttime craft market, held every day except Wednesdays and Sundays.
The village celebrates its patron saint festivals in honor of Sant Ferran on May 30th, marking the beginning of the summer celebration season on the island and always featuring a wide range of musical performances in the church square. (More + info)
· La Mola ·
El Pilar de La Mola is the easternmost village on the island and is famous for its lighthouse, built in 1861, which offers spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea. It also has a hippie market every Wednesday and Sunday.
The village celebrates its patron saint festivities in honor of its patron saint on October 12, and for a week, musical performances, sports competitions, exhibitions, and cultural activities are programmed. (More + info)

· Es Pujols ·
Es Pujols is one of the most touristic villages on the island and offers a wide variety of accommodation, shops, restaurants, and bars. Due to its location next to the beach, it is the main reference for services and entertainment among all the villages in Formentera.
The village celebrates its patron saint festivals in honor of the Virgin of Carmen with a maritime procession, musical concerts, and sports competitions on July 18th. (More + info)
· Es Caló de Sant Agustí ·
Es Caló de Sant Agustí is a small village that has grown in a very contained way around the fishing huts in the area, and it is located on the north coast of the island. Surrounded by crystal clear waters, the village’s life always revolves around the sea.
The village celebrates its patron saint festivities in honor of Saint Agustí on August 28th. On this day, an outdoor mass, folk dancing, and a musical performance are held in a relaxed atmosphere that is in line with the spirit of the village. (More + info)

La Savina is not only the entry port for all visitors to the island, but also a village with a strong seafaring and fishing spirit. The entire life of its inhabitants revolves around the docks, and it offers a wide range of shops, bars, restaurants, and nautical activity companies.
It celebrates its patron saint festivals in honor of the Virgin of Carmen with a massive maritime procession on July 16th, as well as musical concerts and sports competitions that extend for several days. (More + info)
